Days of heaven

The choir is in perfect harmony. Crickets chirp softly from wheat fields. Songbirds, diving and darting among farmhouses and barns, join the chorus. A sweet lullaby drifts across the high desert in Washington state. Park your car on the shoulder of a country road and listen. A windmill turret creaks and groans as the wind shifts. You might hear the crack of distant thunder. Sometimes you hear nothing. It’s heavenly. I captured these images with a Mamiya 645 Pro camera and Kodak Portra 400 film. I believe Jesus Christ, who creates all things (Colossians 1:16), carved and shaped this land. And blessed it. Washington is the fourth largest wheat producing state in America. Acre for acre no state grows more wheat. But how long will the blessings last? We live in a post-Christian age. Sin is celebrated openly. Yet God has not removed His hand from America. Just head to the prairie and listen. The choir is still singing.
