No man ever spoke like this Man

The words of Yeshua (Jesus) recorded in the gospels read like poetry in our English translations. The Messiah has a distinct voice, a pattern of speech unique to Him. Examples:

Whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it – Mark 16:24

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me – John 10:27

The more we read the Word (I recommend a one-year daily reading schedule) the more familiar His voice becomes. His speech is different from the sound bites on cable news or even Christian TV. He speaks with divine authority. Even the temple guards, sent to seize Yeshua during His earthly ministry, were overcome by His words (John 7:46). Returning empty-handed, the guards report, “No man ever spoke like this Man!”

The Son of Man speaks today but it takes a trained ear. A lot of people claim to speak for Him, but do they? We can distinguish His voice by spending time with Him – reading His Word and praying. We don’t need a mediator or translator. Yeshua speaks to us personally, calling us by name.
