The Only Psalm
Powerful sermon on Psalm 62 by the late J. Vernon McGee. It is called The Only Psalm because the word “only” is used as many as six times by David, depending on the translation. The king of Israel, facing the greatest crisis of his reign as son Absalom leads a rebellion against him, remains unshaken:
My soul, wait thou in silence for God only; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my high tower; I shall not be moved – Psalm 62:5-6 ASV
In David’s darkest hour, there is no hint of fear in Psalm 62. Not one complaint. That attitude moves McGee, who tells his congregation he wants to be a man like David – trusting God in every trial, regardless of the outcome. Listen to McGee here:
