O Jah

God’s names reflect His character, authority, glory and power. Yeshua (Jesus) of Nazareth came to earth in the fullness of YHVH (Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey), the ineffable or unutterable name of the God of Israel. Jewish sages say this name expresses God’s attribute of mercy. Since ancient Hebrew did not use vowel markings, no one today knows the correct pronunciation. We use Jehovah, Yehovah, Yahweh. The shortened form of YHVH is Yah, found in the word hallelu-YAH, which is Hebrew for “you praise the LORD.” Praise doesn’t get much better than this live recording of “O Jah” from Paul Wilbur:
