Today is 14 Nisan on the Hebrew calendar, the day Yeshua (Jesus) was crucified. When He cried from the cross, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” He was quoting the first verse of Psalm 22. In rabbinic teaching, when a Bible verse is quoted the entire text is implied. Yeshua was telling everyone within earshot He was the prophetic fulfillment of that Messianic psalm. He was trying to draw all men to Himself as He drew His last breaths. Yeshua was raised on 17 Nisan, the Feast of First Fruits during Passover week. He is the first fruits of the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20).
