Today is Nisan 14 on the Hebrew calendar, the day Yeshua (Jesus) was crucified. When He cried from the cross, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” He was quoting the first verse of Psalm 22. It was common for rabbis in that day to allude to an entire Psalm by quoting the first verse. Yeshua was telling everyone within earshot He was the prophetic fulfillment of that Messianic psalm, which describes the crucifixion. The Son was not forsaken by the Father. Yeshua was trying to draw all men to Himself before taking His last breath. His invitation was open even to the religious leaders who had called for His death.
